With E3 coming up next week, I wanted to make sure that these pieces of news got reported on.

None seem to be large enough to merit their own post, so I thought I’d do a roundup of the news over the last week or so.

Assets

Develop Online has released a list of free game development tools.

Reddit user KenNL has released a set of boardgame assets under Creative Commons zero (CC0), allowing them to be used for free even in commercial applications.

Unity

Unit Testing tips from Unity QA.

The AgeCheq app for Unity helps developers with compliance to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

Unity Technologies has released Patch 4.3.7p2 to correct a number of outstanding issues.

Here is a preview of the UI system coming in Unity 4.6

A Game Starter Kit has been released for Unity developers, to help target Windows Store and Windows Phone Store games.

CryEngine

The CryAction and CryInput Source Code is one its way, and should be released next week, just in time for E3.

GameMaker: Studio

Developers with the full version of GameMaker can now target and build for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
