UDK Update Coming Soon

Unreal Development Kit (UDK)

As some developers may be aware, February 1 marks the start of new requirements for the Apple App Store. Epic Games recently tweeted on their intention to help mobile developers meet this goal:

The hyperlinked post expands this information slightly:

Greetings Everyone,

First off, Happy New Year from Epic!

As many of you know, Apple is going to start requiring all apps submitted to the App Store to be built with Xcode 5 and iOS 7 SDK, with a deadline of February 1, 2014.

Read about it here: https://developer.apple.com/ios7/

We just wanted to let our valued UDK developers out there know that we are aware of this deadline and are currently working on a solution. We will provide updates as they develop, and we appreciate your patience.

Happy Game Developing!

Hopefully this means a new UDK version will be released soon! The last released version was the July 2013 Beta, which itself was a minor bugfix from the February 2013 release. With the Unreal Engine 4 making headlines, some Indie developers had considered the UDK engine (which is based on Unreal Engine 3) to be stuck in development limbo. With any luck, this may be the first in a new series of UDK releases.
